We’re incredibly grateful for the many people who want to give their time and talents to Got Your Back San Diego. There are many ways to get involved and help us support local kids!
Because we are a school-based program, our hands-on work follows a very specific weekly schedule. Reliable volunteer teams are scheduled well in advance so our kids can count on receiving their food every week. For that reason, we generally don't offer drop-in volunteer opportunities.
But there are still many ways to help! Opportunities include grant research and writing, fundraising, community outreach, occasional food packing and delivery openings, special projects, and more.
Take a look at the opportunities below to find the best way for you to get involved.
Help us develop new ways to raise the funds needed to purchase food for our kids.
Opportunities may include helping with fundraising campaigns, identifying prospective donors and sponsors, developing community partnerships, or assisting with special fundraising initiatives.
Help us identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations and other organizations that support programs addressing childhood hunger and food insecurity.
We're especially interested in volunteers with experience researching grants, preparing applications or writing compelling proposals.
Please contact us by filling our our Volunteer Interest Form.

Help Got Your Back San Diego build a stronger presence throughout North County by representing our organization at local Chamber of Commerce meetings, networking groups, community gatherings and other events.
Because Community Representatives speak on behalf of Got Your Back San Diego and serve as a public face of our organization, this volunteer role is filled through an application and approval process.
We're looking for individuals who are comfortable meeting new people, building relationships and communicating our mission professionally and enthusiastically.
Approved Community Representatives will be provided with the information and resources needed to confidently explain who we are, what we do and how businesses and community members can support our work.

Every Tuesday evening during the school year, volunteers gather at our Oceanside warehouse to pack weekend food bags for local children.
Our Tuesday packing nights are primarily staffed through our partnership with North Coast Church. North Coast Church attendees can sign up individually or with their Life Groups through the North Coast Church website.
We're sorry: because space and staffing needs are limited, we are unable to accommodate drop-in volunteers or schedule individual packing sessions outside of our scheduled packing nights.

Every Thursday morning during the school year, our volunteer drivers pick up prepared food bags from our Oceanside warehouse and deliver them to participating schools throughout North County San Diego.
Our current team of Thursday delivery drivers is fully staffed. However, schedules change and openings occasionally arise.
If you'd be interested in becoming a driver in the future, please complete our Volunteer Interest Form. We'll be happy to keep your information on file and contact you when a route becomes available.
From time to time, we may need extra hands for special projects, events, large deliveries, warehouse organization or other one-time needs.
These opportunities are occasional and not regularly scheduled, but we're happy to keep your information on file and reach out when extra help is needed.
Please follow us on our social media channels for special announcements of urgent needs.
Don't forget to fill out our Volunteer Interest Form if you want to be added to our volunteer database.

We are incredibly blessed by the enthusiasm and willingness to help we receive from our community. We truly wish we could provide a hands-on volunteer opportunity for everyone who wants to give their time.
But ultimately, our goal is to help as many local children in need as possible. While our hands-on opportunities are limited, there are other ways you can make an immediate and meaningful impact.
We encourage you to consider making a donation, organizing a fundraiser, or hosting a food drive to benefit Got Your Back San Diego. These efforts directly support our mission and can make a tremendous difference in the lives of the children we serve.
You don't have to work in our warehouse to have our kids' backs.
Interested in lending a hand? Please complete our Volunteer Interest Form and tell us how you'd like to get involved.
We'll add your information to our volunteer database and reach out when a need arises that matches your interests and availability.
