Giving Extends Beyond Traditional Means When It Comes to Feeding Children in San Diego
At Got Your Back San Diego, our mission is simple and urgent: make sure food-insecure children have the nutrition they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Every week, we provide weekend food to students who would otherwise go hungry — and we can only do it because people like you believe every child deserves enough to eat.
Supporting children in need through Got Your Back San Diego goes far beyond a traditional donation. Every act of generosity helps us reach another child right here in our community who is quietly struggling with hunger.

An in-kind donation (GIK) is a non-cash gift made to a nonprofit organization. These contributions can be made in the form of time, services, expertise, and goods, often from large businesses but also individuals. In-kind donations of property are typically tax deductible. A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable investment account that allows individuals to donate to charities while retaining control over how their funds are invested and distributed. DAFs are administered by a public charity, such as a community foundation, financial institution, or sponsoring organization, and are made up of contributions from individual donors. Ask your financial institution about a DAF.
